Proverbs 16:19
Proverbs 16:19
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
In this verse, we are reminded of the value of humility, especially in our relationships with the less fortunate. God honors a humble spirit, and this verse contrasts the lowly with the proud. The arrogance, pride of the wealthy and powerful is often celebrated in the world, but God values the humble heart. He teaches that being of a lowly spirit, particularly in solidarity with the poor and oppressed, is far more valuable than any material gain. It’s easy to be tempted by wealth or status, but true contentment and wisdom are found in humility. Humility brings a peace that cannot be bought, and it allows us to see others as God sees them, with compassion and dignity. This verse encourages us to focus not on outward success but on cultivating humility in our hearts, which draws us nearer to God’s will. Humility, in this sense, aligns us with God’s heart for justice, compassion, and love.
Psalms 149:4

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.
James 3:9
With the tongue, we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.
Proverbs 18:12
Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
