Proverbs 16:5
Proverbs 16:5
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord.
Arrogance in the heart is one of the things that God despises most. The Bible makes it clear that those who are arrogant in heart are an abomination to the Lord. Arrogance is rooted in arrogance, pride, and it distorts our view of others and of ourselves. It leads to a false sense of superiority, causing us to look down on others and neglect their needs. This attitude is a direct contradiction to God’s call to love others and to humble ourselves before Him. God sees the heart, and an arrogant heart cannot stand before Him. It is a heart that refuses to acknowledge God’s authority and instead seeks to exalt itself above Him. The sin of arrogance is a barrier to true intimacy with God because it refuses to submit to His will. It is through humility that we can approach God, recognizing that we are all equal before Him, and He alone is worthy of exaltation. God calls us to live in humility, casting aside arrogance, and embracing His grace. Those who do so are welcomed into His presence and can experience His love and favor.
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 16:18
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 27:2
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
