Proverbs 22:8
Proverbs 22:8
He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
The principle in this verse is simple but powerful: those who sow injustice will face the consequences of their actions. The sowing of injustice may seem to go unnoticed for a time, but God, who sees all, will ensure that those who act in wickedness will face calamity. The imagery of the "rod of fury" suggests a powerful force of correction, which will ultimately fail to bring about any lasting victory for the unjust. This is a warning to those who think they can act with impunity, believing that their actions will not have repercussions. God’s justice will not be thwarted, and the wicked will eventually reap what they have sown. For the believer, this verse serves as a reminder to trust in God's justice, to refrain from acting with malice or deceit, and to remember that God will always make things right in the end.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Proverbs 18:24
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
1 Samuel 20:41
I am distressed, for you are very dear to me, my brother Jonathan.
Matthew 24:9
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
