Proverbs 23:12
Proverbs 23:12
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Proverbs 23:12 says, “Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.” To apply our hearts to instruction means to let it affect our very being. It's not merely about hearing words or gaining facts, but about allowing that knowledge to sink deep into our hearts and transform us. The process of applying our hearts to instruction is an act of intentionality—it requires effort and commitment. We are called to be diligent in seeking understanding and applying it, not just listening passively. Our hearts must be open to learning, and our ears must be eager to hear what God is teaching us. Knowledge that doesn't move from our ears to our hearts is knowledge that fails to transform us. As we grow in understanding, we grow in wisdom and maturity.
Psalm 94:12
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law.
Hebrews 12:5
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:.
Proverbs 3:12
For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Proverbs 12:1
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
