Proverbs 27:17
Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
As iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. This proverb from Proverbs 27:17 speaks to the power of meaningful relationships. Just as iron sharpens iron, our relationships with others—especially those with close friends or fellow believers—have the potential to sharpen us, making us wiser, stronger, and more equipped to face life’s challenges. A true friend challenges us to grow, holds us accountable, and encourages us in our faith. In difficult seasons, like breakups or hardships, it is the support and counsel of friends that help us navigate through. On birthdays, we reflect on the friends and loved ones who have sharpened us throughout the years. They have contributed to our growth in ways we may not always recognize, and their encouragement has made us who we are today. Just as iron sharpens iron, let us also be intentional in sharpening the countenance of those around us, offering wisdom, encouragement, and support.
Hebrews 13:16
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
