Proverbs 31:30
Proverbs 31:30
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
This verse highlights the fleeting nature of outward beauty and charm, acknowledging that while beauty and favor may captivate the eye, they are ultimately temporary and unreliable. The true measure of a woman's worth, according to this passage, is not in her physical appearance or external accolades but in her reverence and fear of the Lord. "The woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised" emphasizes that a godly woman is to be honored, not because of her beauty, but because of her inner character, wisdom, and devotion to God. The fear of the Lord here does not imply fear in a negative sense, but rather a deep, respectful reverence for God’s majesty, authority, and holiness. A woman who fears the Lord recognizes His sovereignty and lives in a way that honors Him, making her more valuable than any fleeting physical beauty or charm. This passage calls attention to the eternal worth of a virtuous woman whose life is anchored in faith, humility, and devotion to God, qualities that outshine physical appearance and remain relevant for eternity.
