Proverbs 4:5
Proverbs 4:5
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 4:5 says, “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.” This verse serves as a passionate appeal for us to pursue wisdom and understanding above all else. In the midst of our busy lives, it is easy to overlook the vital importance of these two virtues. Wisdom, in the biblical sense, is not just about knowledge or intelligence; it is about knowing the will of God and applying it practically in our lives. Understanding, likewise, involves comprehending and grasping the deeper truths of God’s Word and His plans for us. The phrase "forget it not" speaks to the challenge of maintaining this wisdom as we go through life. We can easily forget or ignore God’s guidance when faced with challenges or distractions. The verse challenges us to make wisdom our constant pursuit and to not let it slip away, for wisdom leads to righteousness and peace. By holding tightly to wisdom, we will avoid many of life’s pitfalls and find ourselves better equipped to face the trials that come our way.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
