Psalm 7:17
Psalm 7:17
I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.
This verse emphasizes giving thanks for God's righteousness. The psalmist rejoices in God's justice and perfect character. Thanksgiving is an appropriate response to the righteousness of God, as it is through His righteousness that we experience salvation and restoration. In our culture, righteousness may be undervalued, but for the believer, it is the foundation of our faith. God’s righteousness means that He always does what is right, even when we don’t understand His ways. In response, we give thanks, acknowledging His holiness and the fact that He has made us right with Him through Christ. This is a cause for celebration, as it leads to joy, praise, and worship. When we reflect on God's righteousness, it stirs us to worship Him more deeply, recognizing that His holiness is the standard by which all things are measured.
