Psalms 149:4
Psalms 149:4
For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
God delights in His people, and He adorns the humble with salvation. This verse emphasizes that humility attracts God’s favor and blessings. When we humble ourselves before God, He takes pleasure in us and offers us salvation. Humility before God means acknowledging our dependence on Him for everything—our salvation, our provision, and our direction. In turn, God blesses the humble with His presence, peace, and grace. This verse also serves as a reminder that salvation is not something we can earn through pride or self-sufficiency, but it is a gift from God that we receive through humility and faith. The humble heart opens itself to God’s saving grace, and in return, God adorns it with His blessings. Humility, therefore, is not only a virtue but the pathway to experiencing God’s salvation and favor in our lives.
James 3:9
With the tongue, we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.
1 Corinthians 1:28
God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are.
Matthew 18:4
Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Proverbs 18:12
Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
