Psalms 34:14
Psalms 34:14
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Peace is not something that happens by chance; it must be actively pursued. This verse challenges us to turn away from evil and instead embrace goodness and peace. Departing from evil means rejecting sin and choosing to live in a way that is pleasing to God. But peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the presence of harmony and reconciliation. This requires effort, humility, and a willingness to forgive. The call to "pursue" peace indicates that it is something we must chase after, striving to bring about peace in our relationships, communities, and hearts. Seeking peace often involves choosing to overlook offenses, forgiving those who hurt us, and working to restore broken relationships. The pursuit of peace reflects God’s heart for unity and harmony, both in our lives and in the world. As we actively seek peace, we become instruments of God’s reconciliation, helping to heal the divisions that separate us from each other and from God.
