Psalms 37:27
Psalms 37:27
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Peace does not happen by accident; it must be actively pursued. This verse highlights the need for believers to turn away from evil and instead embrace goodness. Seeking peace involves both an internal pursuit of harmony within one’s heart and an external pursuit of peace in relationships with others. In a world filled with conflict and division, this command challenges Christians to be peacemakers, working for reconciliation rather than division. It is a call to choose goodness over evil and to actively seek to restore peace where there is strife. Pursuing peace means actively rejecting the ways of the world that promote hatred, discord, and division. As we seek peace, we also model the character of Christ, who came to bring peace between God and humanity and calls us to live as agents of that peace in the world. This verse underscores the importance of obedience to God’s will as we seek peace in every situation.
