Psalms 97:10
Psalms 97:10
Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Loving the Lord means aligning our hearts with His will, hating what He hates and loving what He loves. This verse reminds us that those who truly love God will naturally reject evil, as it stands in opposition to His holiness. God, in His grace and mercy, preserves the souls of His saints, safeguarding them from the hands of the wicked. This deliverance is not merely physical but spiritual as well. God’s protection extends beyond temporal concerns; it reaches into eternity, ensuring that His people are secure in His care. In moments of trial or danger, believers can take comfort in the fact that God is their protector, and He will deliver them from the schemes of the evil one. The call to hate evil is a reflection of God's own nature; as believers, we are to follow His example in living a life that reflects His holiness. The assurance of His deliverance is a reminder that, despite the evil in the world, God's power is greater, and His protection is certain for those who trust in Him.
