Romans 12:17
Romans 12:17
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
This verse teaches the importance of responding to wrongdoing with grace and goodness, rather than retaliation. In a world where vengeance is often seen as justified, God calls us to a higher standard of living. “Do not repay anyone evil for evil” is a command that challenges us to trust in God’s justice rather than seeking personal retribution. It is easy to fall into the trap of seeking revenge when wronged, but doing so only perpetuates the cycle of evil. Instead, God asks us to do what is right, even when others do not. By choosing to act with integrity and kindness, we reflect the character of Christ. This verse invites us to respond to evil with good, even when it seems unfair. By doing so, we create an opportunity for peace, justice, and healing, both in our own hearts and in our relationships.
