Romans 13:13
Romans 13:13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Living a life of purity and holiness involves making wise choices in all areas of life, including how we conduct ourselves publicly and privately. The Bible urges us to walk properly, as in the daytime, meaning we should live without shame or hidden sin. When we engage in sinful behaviors such as drunkenness, sexual immorality, or other forms of sensuality, we dishonor God and damage our witness to others. Instead, we are called to walk in the light, living with integrity and purity. Our actions should reflect the goodness and holiness of God, and we should strive to live in a way that honors Him. This is not a call to perfection, but to a lifestyle that consistently seeks to please God and live in obedience to His commands. Our public and private lives should align, and in doing so, we bring glory to God.
Isaiah 5:11
Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed.
Hosea 4:11
For wine and new wine take away the understanding.
Proverbs 31:4
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to drink wine, nor for rulers to crave beer.
Proverbs 23:21
For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.
