Romans 13:7
Romans 13:7
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Respecting and honoring others as they deserve is a fundamental part of living in harmony with God’s teachings. This verse reminds us to render what is due to others, whether it be respect, honor, obedience, or fear, recognizing the roles they play in our lives. This respect extends beyond mere outward gestures; it is a reflection of a heart that values order, authority, and the roles established by God. By honoring others appropriately, we show reverence for the positions God has allowed them to occupy. This act of giving each person their due—whether it is a tribute to authorities, respect to elders, or honor to those who lead us spiritually—is a testament to our humility and obedience to God. In this discipline, we learn to live with a heart that values others and acknowledges the structure of respect God has woven into society. Embracing this principle fosters unity, peace, and order, as we live with an attitude that esteems and respects each individual according to God’s design. Through this practice, we mirror the honor and reverence that we ultimately owe to God, creating a community that is rooted in love, respect, and mutual understanding.
