Inspiration
Life is full of storms: disappointments, heartbreaks, illnesses, family issues, and general suffering. While storms aren't fun, they teach us lessons that we wouldn't have learned if life were always calm. Christian faith is not only about getting to heaven at death; it also teaches us how to live in the here and now, especially when life gets stormy.
The miracle of Jesus calming the storm reveals who Jesus is and what that means to us in the trials of life.
Jesus is the Lord overall. A life following Jesus is not guaranteed to be storm-free, but we can have confidence in the Lord to calm the storms and bring order to chaos. Jesus was sleeping when the storm came down on the lake, and the boat was in real danger. During difficult times in our lives, we may feel as if God is ignoring us. In reality, however, the Lord is always with us in the storm, just as He was with the disciples.
When you're in a storm, even though you may not feel the Lord is there, He always is! Trust Him as your Savior, your only hope for heaven. Trust Him daily in the small problems you face. Then, whether He instantly calms the storm or whether your boat sinks, you will know the peace that the world doesn't know, the peace that comes from trusting in Jesus, the Lord, over all of life’s storms.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I feel a great sense of peace knowing that You are always with me and You know everything I am going through. I praise You for Your mighty power that rules over everything. No storm is too big for You to calm. No problem is too big for You to handle. I put my faith and trust in You. May Your loving presence be so near to us, Lord Jesus, that we never despair of Your guiding hand and loving touch.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
