In this verse, David stresses that we should take time to be patient before God. We should trust that He will speak to our hearts and not be agitated by the earthly prosperity of the wicked. We often find that when we are quiet and patient before Him, He brings to mind Scripture that is just what we need to comfort and calm our minds. Patience leads us to discover that God is working in our lives. As Christians, we are called to delight in the things of God, as those are the qualities of life that have everlasting joy, eternal purpose, and heavenly rewards. It is critical for us to remain confident in God's power and promises. As bright as the noonday sun, He will vindicate all His children, and His justice will be unfailing. As we wait patiently for the Lord to act on our behalf, we should remain still in His presence. Stillness in His presence is not a state of sulking or murmuring but simply resting in Him, trusting in His Word of truth, abiding in His love, and waiting for Him to act. Pursuing patience is to avoid displaying glum resignation. As we relax in His presence and cling to the hope that is laid before us, the peace that passes understanding will flood the hearts and souls of all who walk in the ways of Jesus Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for allowing the wicked ways of the ungodly to disturb my rest in You. Protect me from anxious thoughts. In Your presence, may I learn to rest in Your love and wait patiently for You to act. Everything You do is geared towards my benefit and Your glory. Therefore, I know that Your ways are higher and better than mine. You are the source of my joy and peace. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
