In his first letter to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul wrote of the false teachers who had come into the church at Corinth and denied the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These individuals believed only in their physical existence and denied the existence of life after death and resurrection. As a result, the rest of the Corinthian believers followed their moral outlook on life. When we are associated with false teachers or ungodly individuals, they can have negative impacts on us. We must be careful with whom we form relationships, especially outside of the church, because unbelievers can cause even the strongest Christians to waver in their faith and negatively affect their walk with Christ. Therefore, Paul warns us to choose our companies wisely and “not be deceived." So today, take an honest look at your relationships. Do you have any friends who steer you away from God and toward making bad choices? If so, ask God whether you should step back from these relationships. Rather than blending in and following what's popular, put your time and effort into relationships that will grow your relationship with God and help you make good decisions.
Dear Heavenly Father, I want nothing to do with false teachers who do not speak the truth from Your Word. Please keep them away from me. I pray that no matter what other people say to me, I will remain firm in my faith in You. Help me to choose my companies wisely and stay connected to Your word. You have everything that I need and more. May I be a good influence on others so that they may come to know You and be saved. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Proverbs 14:9
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
Romans 7:15
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
John 1:29
Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
