Inspiration
As human beings, we tend to be independent and self-reliant. However, Jesus makes it clear in this verse that He is the vine, and we are the branches. Just like the vine provides nutrients and supports the branches, Jesus gives us wisdom and strength. If we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit, and apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Those who are saved are described as being "in Christ" (Romans 8:1; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, abiding in Christ is not a special level of Christian experience; rather, it is the position of all true believers. To abide in Christ is to live and remain in His love. It is holding fast to Him in faith and obedience. It is believing the truth of His Word with an unshakable assurance. As we abide in Him, we will be united with Him in mind and motives, resting in His gracious love and having a deep, trusting dependence on Him in all areas of our lives.
When you begin any task or project, tell Jesus you are relying entirely on Him to provide the grace, wisdom, and strength you need. After completing your task successfully, don't forget to thank God for His assistance.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for all the times I tried to do things on my own. I have realized that without You, I can do nothing, and with You, I can do anything. I need You at all times, and I want to abide in You so that I may bear good fruit. Please grant me more than enough strength, wisdom, and creativity to accomplish the tasks ahead of me. Keep me firmly rooted in You so that I will never lack love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, or self-control.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
