Inspiration
In the Jewish culture, Moses is regarded as the most revered figure since he led the Israelites out of Egypt and brought them the Law of God. Jesus Christ is shown to be superior to Moses in this passage. There are two important contexts for this passage. The first point is that if we should follow the example of Moses, we should follow Him even more closely. Furthermore, as later verses will explain, faithfulness is a prerequisite to victory.
As the eternal Son of the Most High God, Jesus is superior to Moses in every aspect of His Person and work. Additionally, He was entrusted with all aspects of the salvation and calling of the Church of God. His death and resurrection identify every member of His Body with His deliverance from sin. The Church is being built from living stones into God's heavenly Temple by Him.
Just as Moses was faithful in all that he was called to do by God, Jesus was faithful in all that He was called to do by Him. He is deserving of the highest honor, glory, worship, and praise, not only now but for centuries to come. Even so, God, in His grace, drew a beautiful comparison between Moses, who remained faithful to His calling, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we are grateful to You for Jesus, who is the great High Priest and the Apostle to whom we profess our faith. Please accept my sincere thanks for His sinless life and for His suffering and death for our sins on the Cross. By faith in Him, we have been forgiven of our sins, and we have been raised into the newness of life. I pray that I may always be faithful to the work that You have given me to do.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
