Inspiration
When considering what Jesus said when asked about the greatest commandment, it can be odd how He seemingly sums up all of the commandments in only two: to love God and your fellow men. However, when you really think about it, it makes sense.
As Paul says here in Romans 13, if you truly love your neighbor, you will do no ill towards them. For example, if I say that I love my fellow man yet treat everyone around me with disrespect and malice, would you say that I am telling the truth? Or, if I say that I love my fellow man, yet I steal from those around me, would you say that I am living by the Spirit of Christ? Of course not!
This is how Jesus was able to say that these two commandments sum up the whole law. If you truly love your neighbor, you will follow the more specific commandments that God gave, for they are the outworking of truly loving your neighbor. If you love your neighbor, you won’t steal from him, kill him, or lie about him. You will simply love him.
Love is the fulfillment of the law. Let us learn to love one another more often and more deeply than ever before.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the people around me who love me. Thank You that You love me more than I could ever know or fathom. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can pour out Your love on those around me. Help me to see past others' faults and to love them as You love them instead.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
