Inspiration
In the Psalms, we find an example of a poetic phrase that is frequently used in Christian literature and music. The term "taste" refers to feeding on the Lord's truth and embracing it deeply within oneself. Anyone who studies and applies God's Word seriously discovers firsthand that He is righteous, and he or she also discovers that He is a trustworthy and reliable stronghold. Moreover, the person who tastes and sees the Lord's goodness finds a blessing: true happiness.
David is credited with these eloquent words, and the reason for his exultant praise is that he prayed to God, and God responded. It is an invitation to trust in the Lord, to taste His faithfulness, and to see the Lord's goodness and grace. This is at the center of a psalm that begins by blessing the Lord at all times and praising Him everlastingly. This is a trumpet call for men to glorify the name of the Lord.
During his lifetime, David recognized the sustaining hand of the Lord in his own life, giving honor and praise to Him at all times. As did David, we would do well to hide under the protective arm of the Lord, seek Him during times of trial and tribulation, and cry out to Him for deliverance from our enemies so that we can also rejoice with great joy and encourage others as well.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You have given us Your Word and its wisdom. Thank You for saving me by trusting in Jesus as my Lord and Savior and for the eternal blessing that He has brought me. You are my guiding hand of grace and protection, and I trust You will never let me down in all the difficulties and dangers of life I may face. In troubled times, I am thankful for Your refuge, strength, and ever-present help.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
