Do you know God made a profound declaration when He made the earth? He set in motion a principle or phenomenon that holds forever when He said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” A plant will always reproduce after it has been seeded according to this principle. So, how come we don’t see believers producing the fruit of true repentance even after being in church for so long? Our verse says that the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true. So, when we are found not producing what is good and right and true as believers, we must re-examine what seeds have been planted in us. Remember that it was while men slept that the enemy had the opportunity to plant his evil seeds. This is the undoing of many people in the church today. They are not watching and praying as Jesus commanded. They think it takes a one-time confession of Jesus as Savior to get Satan off their backs forever. Not so! Even Jesus had to constantly watch and pray in order not to produce alien fruit and fall into the temptation of sin. Bearing the fruits of repentance is contention and spiritual warfare you must engage in every single day of your life. There are no off days in this battle if you must bear fruits of true repentance.
Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for strength by Your mighty power at work in me. I ask You, Holy Spirit, to help me continually master the flesh and produce the fruits of Your presence in me. Help me do what is good and right and true every day and everywhere I find myself. Every day, I choose to walk in righteousness and holiness through Your mighty Spirit, not by my own power. Thank You, Father, for I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
