Have you ever struggled with feeling impatient? If your answer is yes, you’re pretty much like the rest of humanity. Everyone struggles with patience, especially when it comes to tough times in life. Often, we just wish that our tough times were over as soon as possible. However, the Bible teaches something different. The Bible teaches that we should have joy in our trials. Even when we encounter long suffering, the Bible says that we should have joy. The question is: how can we have joy in the midst of suffering? Don’t worry; the Bible gives us an answer to that, too. As said in Colossians 1:11, the answer to finding joy in suffering is to be strengthened with all might, according to God’s glorious power. Note that it didn’t say, “according to your power.” We aren’t meant to trust in our power. Instead, we should trust in God’s power and lean on Him in the midst of our longsuffering. If you find yourself in a trial or in a difficult situation in your life, don’t lean on your own power. Instead, lean on God’s power and embrace His strength in your daily walk with Christ.
Thank You, Lord, for the power that only You can provide. Even though my tendency is to lean on my own strength in my times of need, I praise You and give You glory for the fact that You give me power when I need it. It is a power that never fails but instead always supports and lifts me. As I face hardships in life, I pray that I will always turn to You. Help me to focus on You in all things and to always lean on Your strength. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Psalm 16:8
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Joel 3:10
Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Psalms 59:9
Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
Psalm 118:6
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me.
