Inspiration
One of the greatest tragedies of any living or dead person is that they fail to discover the purpose of God for their lives. This is much like moping in darkness all your life. It could make your life a frustrating and emotionless journey. But thanks be to God, who has made a sure way for us to discover purpose and walk in it.
In Romans 12:2, there is a trajectory of events. It reveals that to end at the place of knowing purpose – what is good and acceptable and perfect – begins with transformation.
First, Paul admonishes us not to be conformed to this world. What does this mean? The word “world” here implies “age”. It means that there is a way things are done from generation to generation in this earthly realm, and believers must subscribe to a different curriculum. When Jesus came into the world, He made it clear that He was from above. When He died, rose, ascended, and sent the Holy Spirit, we obtained the status of being born again. This new reality gives us the privilege of being “from above” as children of God like Jesus (John 8:23).
Now, what is left for believers to discover their purpose (spiritual and physical) is to be focused on where they have come from rather than where they have found themselves. Our minds must be renewed to see as clearly as God sees. This is the place of alignment with the will of God because we have the Spirit of God.
When you allow your mind to be transformed by the Spirit of God, you come into discernment of God’s will. You will know what is good and acceptable and perfect in Christ.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, help me align with You in totality. Keep me energized to seek transformation every day in Your presence. Every day, help me to see You and be changed into Your will and purpose for my life. I want to know You and live by Your instructions, serving Your will with all of my heart, strength, and might. Holy Spirit, subject my mind to the renewing power of Your word and presence. Teach me to keep my mind on the things that are above only. Teach me to remain in the place of communion so that I may be transformed and understand Your purpose for my life.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
