Inspiration
Imagine this scenario: a man accused of a crime of which he is guilty. The accused is aware of the punishment for his crime, but the judge presiding over the case pronounces that this criminal is acquitted and discharged, meaning he is absolved of his crime and free to go. Would the accused express surprise, hysteria, or excitement? He might experience some of these emotions, but ultimately, he would be relieved because the weight of the penalty for his crime has been rolled away.
We were once condemned to death as the penalty for rebellion. We were guilty and became the object of God's wrath. To relieve us of the burden of sin that we bear, God stepped in. He paid the price for our sins that we may be declared justified by God – acquitted and discharged. We were once sinners, but now we are free.
There are times, however, when we fall into sin and still feel guilty after confession. This is the Devil's handiwork to put us in the bondage we have been released from. He gives us reasons why God cannot forgive us and that He is angry with us, especially if there is an unpleasant situation. Know this truth- that you are God's chosen and have been justified. The Devil has no case against you, and you are free.
Prayer
Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Son Jesus. Thank You for redemption, forgiveness, and cleansing me of my numerous sins. I bless You for freedom from the burden of sin and wrath. I declare that sin no longer has dominion over me; the guilt of sin has no power over me. I have been forgiven, cleansed, and made holy. I refuse to cave into the blackmail of the enemy. I am set free from the captivity of my past sins, and I live the higher life in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
