We all fear affliction. The pain it brings and the inconveniences that people go through when they go through difficult times are not enviable. As believers, however, we must know the truth. There is another side to affliction. It is the side of the sunlight that comes after the dark night. The Bible says that the affliction of the righteous may be many, but the deliverance of God is always sure to come through. Look at the verse above. It gives hope that anyone going through oppression or any form of affliction should know and keep. The children of Israel were in a land of slavery under the Egyptians, who oppressed them hard. But the testimony is that they multiplied and spread abroad, and the Egyptians were in dread of them. As followers of Christ, our afflictions are not commensurate with the glory that will be revealed in us when we go through them successfully. Even if we don’t get the rewards here and now, we will inherit the glory to come. So, while you are going through oppression and whatever form of affliction it may be, look up and be aware of the other side of affliction. Set your mind on the possible near future of glory that is to come. In your affliction, you can break into new levels of grace and even be increased in every good thing by the power of God. Be encouraged!
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the grace You have given me to grow through the issues that face me. I pray You will strengthen me as I go through these difficult times now and in the future. I pray for the grace to be multiplied instead of diminished because of my sufferings. May my enemies fear me as Your mighty hand is upon me. I pray that Your mercy will lead me through every challenge until I see the other side of glory. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Acts 5:41
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
1 Peter 3:14
But even if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled.
Romans 5:20
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
2 Timothy 3:12
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
