Inspiration
In this verse, Paul describes the human perspective of giving one's life to others. To suffer pain and death, intentionally and voluntarily, for the sake of another is no small matter. Some people, perhaps, would be willing to lay down their lives for the sake of some other good and righteous person, though it is very rare. Essentially, Paul is arguing that we would be hesitant to die for someone we deem to be morally deficient.
This verse discusses 'man-to-man' love, which can't even compare to the love that God displayed towards his creation. Considering that there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's close ones, the love that is demonstrated by God is beyond comprehension. It takes some motivation for a person to give up their life for another, but God's love is so much greater, and this demonstration of the love of God on the Cross continues to be a living, breathing testimony to this very day.
It is a supernatural love that God has for you and me. Throughout our lives, God's love has comforted us not only when we were weak, helpless, and hopeless but also when we did not demonstrate any good or righteousness.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, there are no words to express my gratitude for the gift of Your grace that costs so much and yet means so much to me. I thank You for Your amazing love for us, which cannot be described by the human mind. Thank You for loving me so much and saving me from my sins through the death of Christ. I remain amazed by Your love and grateful for the new life You have given to me.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
