Inspiration
Have you taken time to study the works of creation around your environment? Were you able to fathom them, the greenery pastures, beautiful flowers in different array of colors, diverse animals in the sea and on land? How about the skies, the stars, and the two great lights? How about the interrelationships between the atmosphere and living creatures? These works are evidence of an intelligent Creator. You’d agree that God’s work is indeed excellent.
God has done numerous works of wonder that cannot be forgotten, especially for His chosen people, Israel. Their deliverance from Egypt, crossing the Red Sea, how He fed them for 40 years in the wilderness, how He helped them conquer their enemies to own a land that flows with milk and honey: all these marvelous acts of God are a memorial for the children of Israel. They made it a duty to tell their children and generations after them not to forget the great acts of God. The greatest act of God towards Man is the redemption, forgiveness, and salvation of Man from sin.
These acts of God stem from His graciousness and compassion for His children. We view the God of the Old Testament as a law-enforcing God who is difficult to please. We are quick to forget that love is the nature of God, and He is capable of being merciful and compassionate because they are functionaries of His love. Our salvation is not a function of our good deeds but of His love.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I am thankful for all Your benefits that I receive daily. I am grateful for the miracle of my salvation. You have called me Your own and shown me so much mercy that I don't deserve. I bless Your name for choosing a sinner like me to be called after Your name. Thank You for Your grace and compassion in my life. Thank You for taking my curse upon Yourself so that I may enjoy Your blessings. You alone deserve to be praised. I pray that I inspire the people around me with the same compassion You have shown me so they can see the grace You have shown me and recognize what You have done for them.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
