The judgment reality is something many people, even believers, don't like to hear. There are many schools of thought on the issue of God’s judgment. But we know that His judgment must come just as we’ve been warned in this verse. It took Jesus so much discomfort to come into the world of sinful man in the body of sinful flesh. What He came to do was to make sure that none should perish or, in other words, be afraid of standing before the judgment seat on the day of judgment. But why do people still live their lives oblivious to the impending judgment of Christ? Every deed we do in this body of flesh will be judged by Christ on the day of His judgment. It is a fearful thing to know that everyone must appear before the throne of judgment, and that includes believers. Arguing about what judgment will be like for believers - whether they will go to hell or not - is irrelevant. The truth is, if we really love God, then being complacent with the idea of an escape from eternal damnation as a ticket to live a life of lesser quality will be a shame. We will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, but what do we hope to receive when we do? For some, they hope to receive glory and eternal life. For others, it’s a game of guessing what will happen. We must be those who live lives worthy of commendation by God if we say that we love God. Judgment should not scare the one who truly loves God, for there is no fear in love.
Thank You, Father, for Your grace and mercy that has granted me eternal life. I do not take Your grace for granted. I am full of thankfulness for this life You have given me. I pray, Lord, that You keep me steadfast on the path of righteousness. Help me not to turn to the left or to the right, living a life that brings no glory and honor to You. Holy Spirit, help me stand firm as You lead me all the days of my life. Help me love You with all of my heart, in the name of Jesus. That on the day of judgment, I may hear the pleasant words “Well done, faithful servant!”. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Luke 6:35
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
1 John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Song of Solomon 8:6
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm.
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
