10 mins a day, closer to God.
Pharisees and scribes seem to be righteous from the outside. It appears that they adhere to all the commands contained in scripture, as well as the added rules and regulations they have imposed on the people. However, they are liars and rebels on the inside. Many people, although seemingly law-abiding, are deeply unlawful in the areas that matter most: their spiritual lives. Though Jesus attempted to explain the gospel of God to the scribes, Pharisees, politicians, and Jewish leaders, their hearts hardened against Him, and their animosity toward Him increased. In the end, our Lord reproached these blind leaders of the blind with a prolonged and scathing condemnation of their lawlessness, and He warned them that judgment awaited them if they continued to ignore His message. It is tragic that the very group that should have promoted Jesus' message and ministry to the needy were those who turned the crowds against Him. Let us reflect on the mistakes of these Jewish leaders and give Jesus the honor deserved by His holy name, with sincerity and truth.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray to You to know my heart. In my life, I don't want to live like the hypocritical Pharisees, who appeared righteous from the outside but were full of greed, self-indulgence, and wickedness on the inside. Today, I confess any hidden sins to You, knowing that You already know them. Every day, I pray that I will live with sincerity and truth, lifting Your name high in praise and glory. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Exodus 20:2
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Psalms 11:4
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
Psalms 10:1
Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2 Chronicles 26:5
And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
