The Bible is a book full of instructions and wisdom. Proverbs is a book in Scripture authored by one of the wisest men who has ever touched the face of the Earth. It teaches wisdom for practical daily living and helps us understand the ways of God and His character. God shows us how to be morally right according to His standards, and we learn the path to righteousness. Every book of Scripture gives man instructions about the diverse dimensions of God and what He expects of us. All instructions God gives in His word tend to help us live righteously and experience real life. Because Jesus is the center of the scriptures, every instruction towards real life lies in Him. While it may be true that being a moralist may cause one to live and enjoy a good life, the real life, which is the God kind, can only be experienced in Jesus. We can enjoy an abundant and triumphant life by adhering to His instructions. These instructions are His commandments, ordinances, and statutes. We can enjoy the blessings attached to these instructions only when we pay attention and obey what He tells us. Having instructions is not enough; the key to choosing life is doing His bidding.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me access to Your word, which contains all the instructions I need for a real and blessed life. I am grateful for the opportunity to enjoy eternal life - the God kind of life through my faith in Christ. Help me to pay attention to Your instructions throughout my days. Give me strength and courage to do as Your Word instructs me. As I walk in total obedience to Your word, I will become more like You in character. Keep me walking in the paths of righteousness so that others will see You in me, and Your name shall be glorified. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Psalm 37:30
The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
Proverbs 10:8
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Proverbs 18:20
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
