10 mins a day, closer to God.
Most people's life is full of ups and downs, except those born with a silver spoon and who have had a lot of rosy experiences. The everyday struggle for the basic necessities of life such as food, clothing and shelter can be pretty daunting. We spend the best part of our lives chasing these things to meet our needs and ensure enjoyment and comfort. We work hard to gather wealth for ourselves so that we can feel happy and secure. Each day is lived as though we will be here forever; we forget that we can be here today and absent tomorrow. It seems that we are unaware of the fact that all we have or will acquire is vanity; placing our hopes in these things will result in disappointment one day. As God's children, our confidence should not be in the things we acquire nor should our happiness be based on our possessions. As good as it is to have material possessions, our lives should not be defined by the time we spend chasing after them but by chasing after God. We should look to God for comfort when we are afflicted. He should be our go-to person when we are in need. While we wait for answers, our trust and expectations should be on Him alone.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there for me. You are indeed a present help in times of trouble. I am thankful because You are trustworthy and will never disappoint. I am sorry for the times I chose to focus on acquiring things instead of trusting You for my needs. Forgive me, Lord, for prioritizing things at the expense of my relationship with You. Help me set my priorities right, Lord. Help me live with the consciousness that the things of this world are vain and fleeting. May I always remember that everything I am and have comes from You. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.

Psalms 42:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Zechariah 9:12
Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;
Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
