Why do organizations have different units and departments? Why is there an organogram that stipulates functionality? Why do big firms make use of concepts like division of labor and specialization? Why can't everyone perform the same function? Any system that will thrive and be successful must recognize and respect the differences in the abilities of her workers. To ensure efficient running and increased productivity in an organization, it cannot be handled by one man even if it is owned by an individual. Irrespective of how creative and innovative one is, You can not know or do it all. This stresses the fact that we need one another. Our differences make us unique and foster unity however uniformity in function can give room for boredom and decreased productivity. God created us to be uniquely different in abilities and gifts so that we can be interdependent on one another. If we want to achieve more for God within a short time, then we must accept one another instead of engaging in unhealthy competition and rivalry. We should understand that the joint use of our gifts and abilities is directed toward the success of the work of God. If a part of the body is unable to or fails in carrying out its function, the body has failed and cannot be maximally productive. Each of us is important so that the body of Christ can be functional.
Dear Heavenly Father, I bless You for the opportunity to be a member of the body of Christ. Thank You for inviting me into Your kingdom through faith in Your Son Jesus. Thank You for enabling me to be a blessing to other members and to the church as a whole. Lord, help me recognize my place in Your kingdom and serve appropriately. Grant me the wisdom to perform my function, and help me not to think so highly of myself. Let me not compare my gift or ability with someone else but use it to bless others and for the uplifting of the church of Christ. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
1 Corinthians 12:12
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
John 13:35
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
1 Corinthians 7:4
The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband.
Acts 2:1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
