Man’s craving for the acquisition of material things stems from the need to fill a void somewhere in our minds. In a bid to satisfy our desires, we keep getting things hoping to fill that emptiness. But after all, it seems like this space can't be filled by acquiring possessions only; there has to be more to it. The danger of leaving this the vacuum makes many wealthy people slide into depression. They lose their zest and enthusiasm for living. They thought that having great possessions would give them life satisfaction, but they feel empty and end up committing suicide because they can't find meaning in life. Real life is indeed more than the things we acquire (Luke 12:15). Just as a thirsty man will keep drinking water until he is satisfied, so also does man continue acquiring material things with the hope of satisfying his thirst for fulfillment. We will only drive satisfaction and find fulfillment in life when we accept Jesus. He will give us His Spirit who will help us experience the life of God – eternal life. Religion is man's attempt to satisfy his longing and hunger for God in a bid to fill the emptiness. God, however, desires a personal relationship with us and loves that we depend on Him for everything we need. We will lack nothing because He is our sufficiency. This fountain of living water – Jesus himself is an unending source of blessings and strength and all forms of grace for whatever circumstance in life. Have you accepted the living water?
Dear Heavenly Father, I bless you for the gift of my salvation that has made me a candidate of eternal life. I thank you for the spiritual blessings in heavenly places because you have given me all that pertains to life and godliness. Help me continue to seek and long for you. Let me not place my hope and trust in temporary things but in You. I pray to receive the infilling of Christ's Holy Spirit, and follow His instructions to live a triumphant life in God. May I receive the supply of grace and all that I need to be fulfilled in life. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
