Inspiration
In Joshua chapter 1, God charged Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. To ensure his success, the Lord gave Joshua spiritual principles. He was to be strong and courageous in all conflicts and continuously heed the Word of the Lord. Joshua learned to rely on the Word of truth rather than his own limited understanding.
In chapter 2, Joshua sent two spies to view the land secretly, including the fortified city of Jericho. He learned from past experiences that the report should be given only to the leaders to avoid fear of the unknown. God had prepared the hearts of the people of Jericho to be fearful of Israel before they set foot in the Promised Land. Rahab, a harlot, befriended the spies and volunteered much information about the people of Jericho.
From Joshua's example, we learn to be strong in the Lord and be courageous in our spiritual battles. We must actively depend on the Lord, remain passively productive under His authority, and heed the Word of the Lord. We also learn to explore opportunities under His instruction and rely on His leading and guidance, even in secret missions. Last but not least, we learn that God is in control of His plans, purposes, and will (which are usually carried out by men) and that we must trust Him.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, as I begin my day, I pray that You will give me the courage and strength to carry out Your plans for me. Just as Joshua sent out spies to Jericho, I ask that You guide me as I navigate the challenges that come my way. Open my eyes to the opportunities You have prepared for me and help me to trust in Your provision. May I be bold in my faith, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. Thank You for Your love and mercy.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
