Inspiration
If you are asked, how can you describe your relationship with your parents, especially your father? How do you perceive God with regard to your personal relationship with Him? Our perception of God affects how we relate to Him, probably because of the way we describe Him. When we talk about God, we tend to use words that depict his power and supremacy, and so we seem to have this master-servant relationship with Him. It is true that God is Lord and ruler over all, but there's more to him than leadership. He is also a loving and caring Father who desires the best for His children.
God, as a loving Father, seeks to bless His children and give them their heart desires when a demand is made. We know from scripture that it is not in God's nature to withhold good things from His people. However, there are instances when we make requests for certain things that seem good to us but are not the best for us. No sane parent gives a child the gift of a car. The gesture is good, but it is not of good advantage or benefit to the child. His love for us restrains Him from giving us gifts that would bring harm to us even though they are good.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the immense love You have shown me. I thank You for Your mercies that I have enjoyed without asking. I bless Your name because You have never withheld good from me. I am sorry for the times I questioned Your love and graciousness out of ignorance. Forgive me for being unappreciative of Your blessings.
Holy Spirit, teach me to pray according to the will of the Father. Help me accept the fact that God wants the best for me even when I don't get what I ask for. Teach me to wait patiently for God for answers to my prayers.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
