In this verse, Peter encourages believers to crave the pure spiritual milk of God's Word, just as a newborn infant desires its mother's milk. As a baby grows by feeding on its mother's milk, so too believers can grow spiritually by feeding on God's Word. This verse emphasizes the importance of constantly seeking nourishment from God's Word, which can lead to spiritual growth and maturity. In this chapter, Peter emphasizes the believer's position in Christ and the privileges that come with their new life in Him. He reminds us that through Christ, we have been born again to a living hope and have an inheritance that is reserved for us in heaven. While we will face trials and difficulties in this fallen world, Peter encourages us that these struggles are only temporary and our hope in Christ is eternal. As those who have tasted God's goodness and have a living hope in Christ Jesus, we are called to crave the nourishment of God's Word and guard against the temptations of the flesh. We are to flee from selfish pride and a sinful way of life, avoiding malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. Such actions undermine our testimony as Christians and bring disrepute to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the new life and hope that I have in Christ Jesus. Help me to desire Your Word above all else and to guard my heart against the lusts of the flesh. Please keep me from pride and help me to walk in humility, refraining from malice, deceit, and envy. Forgive me for the times when I have failed to reflect Your love and grace and help me to be a true witness for You in all that I do. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.

Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
John 1:11
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
