Prayer is an effective weapon that assures the believer of victory. Personal prayers help us build our relationship with God and keep us in tune with Him. When, as believers, we engage in the activity of prayer together, we activate tremendous dynamic power. The power of corporate prayers can be seen in a story in the book of Acts 12. Apostle Peter was held captive by King Herod after the latter succeeded in killing John. The prayers of the church interceding for him were answered by the miraculous release of Peter through the angel of God (Acts 12:1-17).
Believers should not be selfish in their prayers; we should not just look out for our needs alone. We should learn the art of interceding for others and trust God to answer. Scriptures tell us to pray for all men, especially those in the house of faith (1 Timothy 2:1-3). This is one way in which we can bear one another’s burdens, lifting our brethren up in our prayers. Praying for others in affliction can help lessen their pain, give them the strength to pull through, heighten their hope, and move God to act on their behalf for deliverance. 
When we pray for the brethren, our love for them grows, thereby fostering the unity of the body of Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for hearing me when I call and showing up for me in days of trouble. I am thankful for Your power that supplies all that I ask of You in prayers. I pray that You will teach me and guide me to love my fellow brethren the way You do. Let me be able to bear their burdens. Help me lift up their needs to You in prayer. Teach me to consider the needs of others and be selfless and ready to help them as it lies within my power. Please enable me to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to spread Your love to everyone around me.
