Jesus came to Earth to complete a mission, which was to reveal the love and nature of the Father to the world. He accomplished this by demonstrating the dimensions of God’s love and power while on Earth. However, He could not have achieved this without the Holy Spirit, whom He referred to as the Comforter and Helper. In this verse, Jesus is telling his disciples that he must leave them in order for the Holy Spirit to come to them. This may have been difficult for the disciples to understand and accept, as they had grown accustomed to having Jesus physically present with them. However, Jesus assures them that it is for their own good that he must go. We can’t overstate the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The Holy Spirit serves as our Advocate, Helper, and Comforter. He guides us in truth, convicts us of sin, and empowers us to live a life pleasing to God. Without the Holy Spirit, we are unable to live the life God has called us to live. We would be left to rely on our own strength and understanding, which would ultimately lead to failure. However, with the Holy Spirit in us, we have access to the power and wisdom of God. As we go through our daily lives, it is important to remember the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We should seek to cultivate a deeper relationship with Him, allowing Him to guide and direct us in all we do.
Dear Heavenly Father, just as You anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power, I pray that You also anoint me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can be empowered to do good and carry Your presence at all times. Thank You for sending the Helper to assist me in my journey of faith. Help me to yield to the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit so that I can walk in the path of righteousness and fulfill the purpose for which You have called me. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
