Inspiration
During the era of the slave trade, a master could decide to pay for the freedom of a particular slave. This payment, also known as ransom, restored the ownership of the slave to its new master. The disobedience of one man, Adam, sold humanity into slavery to sin and works of unrighteousness. Humanity was held captive under the compelling and domineering power of sin since man has no power to set himself free. God, through the process of redemption, made the payment to ensure the liberty of Man from his slave master. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross was the ransom God was willing to pay for the salvation of mankind. We became free from the yoke of sin and the curse of the law. We are no longer slaves, but sons adopted into the family of God, our Redeemer. However, this liberty is not for us to do what we like but to serve God, who redeemed us from slavery.
Man, as a tripartite being, has a soul and is present in a body. When we were saved, our spirits were made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). As believers; we must honor God with our bodies in respect to Him, who gave us the freedom to lead new lives in Christ. We do this by yielding our bodies to be used by God as instruments of righteousness (Romans 6:13). We glorify God by submitting our faculties and body members to the service of God and His will. Just as a servant does everything to honor his master, we also are expected to honor God.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the redemption of my soul through Your boundless love. Thank You for setting me free from the enslaving grip of sin and for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross that secured my salvation. I acknowledge that my liberty, everything I am and have, is because of Your benevolence, and I am humbled by Your unconditional love for me. I ask for Your guidance in avoiding self-sufficiency and arrogance and deliver me from the temptation of pride. I surrender myself to You completely, and may my life be a living testimony to Your grace and mercy.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
