Inspiration
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, who abides with and within all believers. Although there is controversy as to whether He dwells in an individual upon salvation or by baptism, we know from Scripture that He is present with us. He is the Father’s promise to all believers and will help, teach, and direct us to do the will of God on Earth if we give Him unrestricted access. The Bible is filled with testimonials of the exploits Jesus and the apostles did because they allowed the Spirit to work in and through them.
The above verse admonishes us not to quench the Spirit; in other words, it means not to suppress, stifle, or put out. Within the context of the verse, it means believers should not hinder the flow and the ministry of the Spirit in their lives and even within their local churches. The Holy Spirit, according to the verse above, is likened to a fire that should be fanned to flames and allowed to achieve His will, not to be extinguished or doused by human traditions and doctrines, fear, godless and sinful lifestyles, pride, and so on. When we allow Him to permeate every fiber of our lives and fill us, we will be controlled by Him, thus giving Him unhindered access to work in our lives and in our churches.
We should not quench the Spirit in our lives or in our churches. Instead, we should fan the flames of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to work in us and through us. When we give Him unrestricted access, our lives and churches will be transformed.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your promise to pour out Your Spirit upon all flesh. I am grateful for the help and support I have received from the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life and in the church.
Holy Spirit of the living God, thank You for working in and through me. I confess and repent of any actions through which I have hindered Your operation in my life, and I ask for Your mercy for my sins. May I depend solely on You as my source of power and strength, and I ask for Your help in doing the will of the Father in every facet of my life.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
