As believers, it's essential that we live by faith and not by sight, as the Apostle Paul reminds us in today’s verse. It means that we don't rely on what we can see or perceive in the natural realm to guide our decisions and actions. Instead, we trust in God and His Word, even when things seem uncertain or unclear. A great example of this principle can be found in the story of Abraham. In Genesis 12, God calls Abraham to leave his homeland and go to a place that God would show him. Abraham obeyed, even though he did not know where he was going. He trusted in God's promise to make him into a great nation and to bless all the families of the earth through him. Throughout Abraham's journey, he faced many challenges and obstacles. He and his wife Sarah were childless for many years, and he was even asked to sacrifice his son Isaac. But through it all, Abraham continued to trust in God's promises, even when he couldn't see how they would come to pass. Because of his faith, he was counted as righteous and became the father of many nations. Just like Abraham, we, too, are called to live by faith, not by sight. We may not always understand God's plans or see the end result, but we can trust in His promises and walk in obedience to Him. By doing so, we can experience the abundant life that God has for us and be a blessing to those around us.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for reminding me that I am a spiritual being temporarily living in this physical body. Help me not to lose sight of who I truly am and to always live my life according to Your will and purpose. Just as Abraham had faith in You and obeyed Your command, help me to trust in You and obey Your word even when it goes against the ways of this world. I pray for the strength to resist the temptations of this world and to focus on eternal priorities. May Your love guide me in all that I do, and may I reflect Your light to those around me. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Deuteronomy 31:8
And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Isaiah 50:7
The Lord God will help me therefore shall I not be confounded therefore have I set my face like a flint.
James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
