Have you ever wondered what it takes to be considered "perfect"? Is it something that we can attain on our own, or is it something that we must rely on God for? Hebrews 5:9-10 tell us that Jesus became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him and was declared by God to be a high priest in the order of Melchizedek. What does it mean to obey Jesus? It means following His teachings and commands, living a life of faith, and seeking to serve and love others as He did. As we strive to obey Him, we are not only saved from our sins and given the gift of eternal life, but we also become more like Him in character. Jesus, our high priest, is the ultimate example of perfect obedience. He lived a sinless life, even in the face of great temptation and suffering. And because of His obedience, He was able to offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, making a way for us to be reconciled to God. As we seek to follow Jesus and obey His commands, we can be confident that we are on the path towards eternal salvation. And as we grow in obedience, we become more like Him, reflecting His love, grace, and character to the world around us.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the salvation that You have given us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to be obedient to Your Word and to follow in Your ways so that I may grow in my faith and become more like You. Strengthen me in times of trial and temptation, and guide me in the path that You have set for me. Lord, I ask that You help me live a life that is pleasing to You and always remember the sacrifice that was made on my behalf. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins and the hope of eternal life that I have in You. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Matthew 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
1 Peter 1:10
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Psalms 27:1
(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
