There is a popular saying that cleanliness is next to godliness. It is a true saying when one considers the relationship between man and God. One of the attributes of God is holiness, and He expects His offspring to be as holy as He is. According to the Levitical laws, God demands that the Israelites not touch certain things or associate with a kind of people that were tagged as unclean, causing them to be defiled. Engaging in idolatry and sexual immorality can render one unclean and defiled. This is because the Israelites were a holy nation, separate and consecrated to God for a special purpose. The people were required to be clean on days when God visited them: being defiled or unclean can destroy their communion with God, so holiness was a top priority. In the Old Testament days, God used physical things to represent spiritual matters. In the New Testament, however, being undefiled or holy goes beyond the Levitical laws. It includes imbibing and imitating the character of Christ, relying on the presence of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. The undefiled are those who exhibit spiritual maturity, are perfect in their conduct and conversation, and have forsaken sinfulness. Believers must be people of integrity, high on honesty, and with a good heart. We must walk separate from the world and live according to the perfect will of God as taught by the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Help me to keep Your commandments and walk in Your ways. Give me the grace to meditate on Your statutes day and night and to delight in Your law. Help me to hide Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. I pray that You would make me blessed and blameless like Jesus because I walk in Your ways. Strengthen me to obey Your word and to trust in You with all my heart. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.

Genesis 14:20
And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Deuteronomy 28:8
The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."
