Inspiration
This verse comes from the letter written by James, Jesus’s half-brother, to Jewish Christians who had been scattered throughout the Mediterranean world because of persecution. People often say it is easy to believe in God when life is good. But in the event of the loss of someone we love, the loss of our job, or as a result of becoming seriously ill, what will happen to our faith? That is the real test of our faith. In addition to telling the persecuted Jewish Christians to be patient, James also tells them that we must develop patience through trials, on which we are tested by God in our faith. It is through trials that God helps us become the kind of people who glorify His name. Our strength to endure hardships does not come from ourselves; it comes from God.
Don’t resent difficulties when they come. Pray for wisdom, and God will supply all you need to face persecution or adversity. He will give you patience and keep you strong in times of trial.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessings and thank You for the trials. Everything You put me through is for my benefit. I pray for Your wisdom and strength when life gets tough. Fill my heart with joy when troubles come my way, for I know that You have better things planned for me. Thank You for always being there for me in my good and bad times.
In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
