In Romans 12, Paul gives us practical guidelines for living as a redeemed people in a fallen world. This verse teaches us what a true Christian should do in our community, which is to be happy with those who are happy and weep with those who weep. In the previous verse (Romans 12:14), Paul asks us to bless those who persecute us and pray for them. Therefore, we know it is not only our brothers and sisters in the body of Christ that the Apostle Paul wants us to celebrate and mourn with, but also those who disagree with us. Whenever people are united, happiness and healing multiply. When we hear the success of others, we celebrate with them rather than envy them. When we see others suffer in our community, we mourn with them rather than ignore them. In an emotional crisis, what we say is less relevant compared to what we do. In our society, we tend to fix ourselves on words, but the true source of love is the heart. When we rejoice with others and weep with others, we are united in the body of Jesus Christ. And together, we follow Him.
Dear Heavenly Father, give me an empathetic heart so that I may amplify others’ joy and bring comfort to others’ sorrow. Please remove any anxious thoughts that cause me to become jealous of others, and teach me how to be happy for my friends and family when they succeed. Help me to always be the light in my community so that people around me can see Your love through me. LORD bless me. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
