Inspiration
Mercy is contagious. Most of the time, if we extend mercy to others, we will obtain mercy in return. When we are merciful to others, we will obtain God's blessing in the deepest form of happiness.
In the legal sense, mercy often refers to compassionate behavior from a person in power, such as when a judge shows mercy during sentencing. In the Bible, mercy mostly appears in the context of forgiveness or the withholding of punishment. God gives many illustrations of His mercy throughout the Bible. He showed us mercy by sacrificing His son, Jesus Christ, on the Cross to pay the price for our sins. God also shows mercy to those who are in need of healing, comfort, care, and relief from suffering.
God's mercy cannot be bought but only given as a gift at the price of mercy itself. Since we have obtained mercy as a free gift from God, we ought to be merciful to others. When we are willing to show mercy, we get to contribute to creating a world of mercy around us and enable more individuals to achieve liberation from their past and experience God's blessing. The blessings that we receive from God are magnified when we share those blessings with others!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I've done nothing to deserve Your mercy. Every day, I need more mercy than the day before. I am so grateful that You never tire of showing me mercy. Thank You for never giving up on me, even when I make mistakes. Help me to remember this and give mercy to others freely as well.
In Jesus's name I pray, Amen.
