Satan didn't curl his tail and pull in his claws when we came alive again in Christ. He is determined to ruin our lives in order to "prove" that he is more powerful than God. He believes that if he can seduce us into sin, he will triumph over God. 
We are not defenseless in the face of Satan's attack. God has already provided us with the weapons we need - His Spirit and His Word - to defend against all spiritual attacks. This powerful reminder from John tells us not to be afraid of the wickedness and hostility that surrounds us, nor should we be overwhelmed by the problems that we face. Evil can often appear to be far more powerful than we are. But John assures us that in the end, God has triumphed. 
The Holy Spirit, who dwells in us, has far more power than Satan and all temptations of evil. In Jesus Christ, we are equipped with all the authority and protection we need to deal with anything that demons throw at us. Like John's readers, we are of God. We are born of God. No matter what you face today, you’re not alone, and you can overcome it with the power of God in your heart, for He is greater than he is in the world!

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for making a way to freedom available to me through Your Son, Jesus Christ. It is so comforting to know that I am Your child and I can overcome anything with Your love and Spirit in my heart. No power in heaven or hell can match Your greatness. Please help me in identifying the evils in this world so that I can avoid them and live righteously.
