No one enjoys corrections, restraints, household rules, or discipline, but these things make obedient children, scholars, and great sportsmen. It is through God's discipline that Christians are made. The person who does not bear the yoke of Christ gives nothing to others and never finds rest for his own soul. Children submit to their parents’ discipline. Likewise, we, as Christians, should submit to the discipline of our heavenly Father. In God's superior wisdom, He uses trials to mold us into the people He wants us to be. While such experiences are difficult at the time, those who have learned the right attitude toward them will benefit from an increasingly fruitful Christian life. By cultivating the "fruits of righteousness," we become more holy, more dead to sin, and more alive to God. Let's embrace God's discipline as a blessing, as He is treating us as His own children. Accept it graciously and let it accomplish its purpose in your life!
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to relentlessly pursue the discipline of Your Word. Strengthen me with the fruits of the spirit, even when it is difficult at the moment. Please give me the discipline and training that I need to grow so that I can live to my full potential. Thank You for sending Jesus as an example of obedience through His sufferings. Please help me follow His example and seek Your guidance in everything I do. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Proverbs 23:12
Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Hebrews 12:7
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Proverbs 10:17
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
